Joseph Chamberlain strived to be his best,
And that’s what is expected of Chamberlain Students!!

History

  • Originally born in London, Joseph Chamberlain moved to Birmingham to work in his Uncle’s screw company until the age of 38.
  • He strongly believed in education and spoke strongly about it, when he was Mayor of Birmingham in 1869 and MP (Member of Parliament) 1876
  • .As his screw company became very successful he was an important businessman and became a famous politician.
  • He inspired many of his relatives to follow in the same footsteps; Harriet Harman, current Labour MP.His son Austen was an MP and his other son Neville, was prime minister from 1937 – 194.
  • He died on the 2nd July 1914 of a Heart attack but his legacy still lives on all around Birmingham!square

Expectations:-

  • Be on Time! We currently have the highest attendance in the school at                   
  •  95%. We should work to make this HIGHER!
  • Attend all lessons = Missed lessons add up to work missed!
  • Wear Correct Uniform each day
  • Carry Correct Equipment: 2 Pencils, 2 Pens, a ruler and a rubber.
  • Contribute to House activities = Strive like Joseph Chamberlain!
  • Try your best at everything

OTHER SUCCESS

This year (summer 2010) CHMABERLAIN house led the annual summer fayre which raises money for ACORNS children’s hospice. Due to the generosity of all of our students and staff the school raised well over £2000, the highest ever.
This year Chamberlain house are looking forward to raising money for BARNARDOs in April as part of the schools ongoing commitment to supporting charities.
