How we support your child
All parents are a little bit nervous about their children joining us in September but there is a range of ways that your child will be supported both during Year 7 and, indeed, their whole time at our school
|
Examples of support offered in Year 7: |
Extensive liaison with the Primary Schools to ensure that students are placed in the appropriate teaching groups and are supported with pastoral issues.
|
A tailored induction programme over the first week in September to help the students settle quickly.
|
A Year 7 review evening early in the Autumn Term to highlight any concerns that staff, or indeed parents, may have.
|
Progress reviews, monitored by Subject Teachers, Form Tutors and Heads of House, to ensure that students are fulfilling their potential.
|
Mentoring for students to discuss and review targets.
|
This support is in addition to the extensive support offered to all students, primarily through Form Tutors, teaching staff, the Student Support Team, Connexions Service and House Heads.

Rewarding the Positives
There are many students in our community who are polite, smart, work hard, have good attendance and are fully equipped for lessons. It is important that these students are recognised and some examples of rewards given to such students are:
| Merits/certificates |
Ice skating trip |
| Praise Postcards |
Bowling trip |
| £5 vouchers |
Cinema Trip |
| Gift Vouchers |
